One pair scratched; the crews were asked if they wished to go to a single repechage, and at least one declined, so the two reps were run as scheduled.

Winner of each rep goes to final; others were eliminated.

The Desinos took an early lead, opening to a few seats of open water, which they maintained until the last 15 strokes or so of the race, as the other Penn AC pair came back to within about a half-length.

The crews went off the line together, but the PTC pair soon pushed out to about a 1/2 to 3/4 length lead, which they maintained easily throughout the race, with their cadence dropping as low as 32.5-33 spm.
