IRA Coaches Poll
June 1, 2009
California, Stanford and Harvard have been awarded the top three spots in the annual IRA Coaches Poll, released Monday, June 1, 2009 by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The poll, comprised of voting submitted by coaches of the 22 schools competing in the Varsity Heavyweight Eight National Championship, form the basis for the heat selections which will be determined on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. In a year of competitive twists and turns, all of the crews in the mix for a run at the national championship have at least one loss.
The 107th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA)Championships will be held June 4-6, 2009 on Lake Natoma, in Rancho Cordova, CA. The championships will be hosted by the Sacramento Sports Commission and the Sacramento State Aquatics Center, and will be administered by the Aquatics Center Staff and the ECAC. The University of Wisconsin will defend its 2008 crowns in the Heavyweight Men's and Lightweight Women's Eights, Cornell in the Lightweight Men's Eights, and the University of Washington in the Jim Ten Eyck Team Championships.
