Tauranga Girls College Rowing start the season off with a bang - The Great Race - one of the toughest events going. Set on the mighty Waikato in Hamilton, it is the only major race in the world - AGAINST the flow of the river. 2.75 kms long -and feels like double that. Move away from the bank and you are in deep trouble. Oh, and a few University crews were there as well.

Balliol W1 Wednesday Summer Eights 2010

Balliol W1 bumping Teddy Hall W1 on Wednesday of Eights 2010 to gain the womens Headship. Balliol made first contact at around 1 min of the video and continued to make contact all along the green bank until Teddy Hall conceded seconds after the end of the video, about a couple of lengths before Univ raft. Balliol rowed over for the next three days to win their first ever Headship, on the 30th anniversary of women being admitted to Balliol.

After a questionable start, the GTBC M8+ pull off a serious recovery, narrowly avoiding being bumped by the crew at bungline 12. The crew goes on to row nearly the full race distance (approximately 2km) and manage to bump outside University Boat House.

Cambridge University Lent Bumps 2010

Twice a year, the colleges of Cambridge University compete, in 4 Men's and 3 Women's Diviisions, in 4 days of rowing known as the "Bumps". This video was filmed on the last day of this year's Lent Bumps. Each division contains up to 17 crews of eight rowers and races on each day. Boats start at their new positions in the next day's race. Their finishing positions on the last day are their starting positions the following year, If a crew bumps on each of the 4 days, they are awarded blades and the cox carries the college's flag on the ride back. Congratulations to Trinity College, which headed both the Men's and Women's First Divisions at the end of this year's event.
