Cape Cod, Mass. -- The Commissioner of the ECAC, Phil Buttafuoco, is pleased to announce that the EAWRC has extended an invitation to Boston College to race as a guest entry in the 2004 EAWRC Sprint Championships. Based on the performances of crews to date, in regular season racing, and most recently at the Knecht Cup Regatta April 17th and 18th, Boston College’s women’s crews have demonstrated the ability to compete with the fastest crews in the nation. Boston College will compete at this year’s Sprints as a guest entry filling the slot previously occupied by Virginia (in the weeks leading up to the 2003 Sprints, the University of Virginia resigned its membership from the EAWRC).
The invitation extended to Boston College to compete at this year's Sprints will apply for the 2004 Championships only; the league will address issues relating to Conference membership at its annual fall meeting.
