I give a flying coxswain. Fram is right though, I can remember times where we put off tossing the coxswain because we weren't sure if it was worth it or not. Better to save it for large regattas where there are plenty of people to see.

I agree with Fram. And unless they just won in a 2+, not a proper toss -- where is the rest of the line-up?

Guess I am a little too old skool...Coxswain's only get tossed when one wins a major Regatta. For that matter, one only rows bare chested(jog bra'd) when one looses his(her) shirt. Tradition is lost on youth. Congrats on the "V" though!!!

Beautiful. I bought one of the first singles that Calvin built in this style in 1978. It got lost in shipping, and was sent to Disneyland because someone thought it was a theme park prop. Calvin found it, and found a guy with a load of cabbages who agreed to toss it on top and bring it to Seattle. Great boat, the hull was robin's egg blue, weighed it at around 26 lbs. Anyone know where it is now?

It's pretty to look at but I wouldn't want to row it. Too much chance of hurting it. Plus, newer boats go faster.

not all boats are for racing. There is a thing called recreational rowing.

the difference being that you don't train twice per day 6 days a week as a rec rower...I'm right there with you on the rec rowing but really, no one goes out there with the intent of not going as fast as they can.

This picture is like a kick to the gut. I recently heard that the UNH sailing club boathouse burned to the ground, with all their boats inside, and nothing is left. Painful and sad.

It sucks but its kinda cool that someone actually went on a boathouse rampage They probably have insurance so its ok, it would never cross my mind that someone would do that to a boathouse... Possibly drunk kids.

djole, Hopefully you are just a naive minor yourself and not of legal voting age. Please, investigate how "insurance" works and then let us know if you still think its "kinda cool" and "ok". Someone DOES pay for this damage. The money just doesn't appear magically. Deductibles and premiums will go up and not just for Sagamore. They will also have to "do without" at the start of a season. Alcohol is not an excuse; its an enabler. This damage and the lack of respect it shows is a tragedy.

How is this cool at all? This is tragic for Sagamore. Whether they have insurance or not doesn't make this ok.

first of all you need to chill, yes i said chill and im not a minor dont worry about me. if you have any sense of humor you would understand what i wrote. second of all my boat was destroyed in the past snowstorm so i know how it is. I get a laugh out of bad things and keep training, you can keep crying. Dont take your anger on me, be useful, go erg. Peace.

Coming back from winter training on ergs and weights, to double practices on the water on spring break, is the one time wearing gloves is not for softies.

Yeah, next time he might want to try soaking his hands in rubbing alcohol a bit so they're not so crazy soft to start out (outside the carnage those hands look pretty soft!). And death grips = not good.
