This is a perfect example of why row2k Crew of the week is simply a popularity contest. A division two crew, that had a mediocre performance at best in the grand scheme of rowing, won over some truly impressive crews.
Yes, Wesleyan hasn't won the ever prestigious JV race vs Williams in a long time (yawn), however, it doesn't make sense to name a team 'crew of the week' for not sucking any more.....
Seriously, how was UW not crew of the week after a near sweep of Cal....
Yes, it is a popularity contest, it is voted on by average people, no one is trying to say that it's all about who's fastest. So if the members of that team go ahead and get their friends and families to vote, they'll win. If you wanted one of those other crews to win you could have done the same thing, free country. Also, those schools get nominated every week, and have row2k photographing their every single race, let a smaller school have their moment in the sun without being a prick about it.
Sorry Trinity, it is hard to not win everything ;-) Please keep in mind why teams are nominated for "crew of the week". They are not nominated because the are the fastest...that would be rather boring, we can all look at race results and see that yes you did in fact beat Wesleyan last weekend. They are nominated because they overcame a hurdle or did something special and/or unexpected. Wesleyan beat Williams for the first time in 14 years! If you can't appreciate that that was a special race for those women then I would have to say that I feel a bit sorry for you. Be patient, Trinity will get their day in the sun soon enough. Let Wesleyan enjoy the spotlight for a week. See you in Worcester!
Ok...but Princeton won the Vogul Cup for the first time ever (13 years in existence). If these two teams were of equal calibre then maybe it would make sense for them to be in close competition, but the fact of the matter is that the Wesleyan crew is Division II (and second varsity...), while Princeton is a top tier EARC team. There is no reason that Wesleyan should win crew of the week when they're up against this Princeton crew

Or Princeton, after a rare sweep of the HYP....
Very suspect
