The theme: “America”¬or as Justin would say, “Amirica.”All items had to be locally sourced in Syracuse, NY in the 48-hour window leading up to the big day. After a trip down the runway, each contestant had an opportunity to articulate the significance of her “outfit” and how it reflected an aspect of America¬for better or worse.

This past Sunday, members of Gentle Giant Rowing in Somerville, MA took part in the Annual Boston Portuguese Festival by rowing in the Azorean Whaleboat Regatta on the Charles River in front of MIT's Pearce Boathouse. No whales were harmed during this regatta.

Olympian (1976) Anita DeFrantz, president of the LA84 Foundation(and Chairperson of USRowing's "America Rows" outreach initiative), helped introduce teens to the erg as part of RowLA's Learn to Row Day. LA84 Foundation's goal is to maximize youth sports opportunities throughout Southern California and RowLA combines rowing with academic tutoring for girls in Los Angeles... a perfect match.
