Conditions: The 5th Annual Tiro Cup was a continuation of a great tradition that saw 5 independent organizations compete for the right to be called Tiro Cup Champions. The competing squads were Chicago Training Center / UNO, New Trier, St. Ignatius, Crystal Lake and the British School. Over 95 entries were received and, with a few late scratches, over 80 competed.
Pulling 2k’s to the sounds of Daft Punk and Prodigy made the concrete room at Gage Park a deafening mix of music and yelling. In the end, the Tiro Cup was decided by a 2k relay race that saw New Trier A and B claim the top two spots. Finishing 3rd was the CTC/UNO team that barely piped Crystal Lake to the post by .3 seconds! The British School (the newest and youngest team in the competition) finished a very respectable 5th in their first ever indoor rowing race. St. Ignatius did not participate in the team relay.
We look forward to a growing event next year for the 6th Annual Tiro Cup. All sights will be set firmly on New Trier as they consistently set a high standard that all the other clubs are aiming to beat.
