Tom Mayo, CEO of the Organising Committee, speaking on the last day of the 2010 World Rowing Championships:
"We're on track to break even but we won't know for sure till the end of the month. It will take time to factor in the final numbers from areas such as hospitality, bar takings, foreign exchange and so on.
"In addition, there's a multi-million dollar capital legacy left to Rowing NZ with the upgrades to the rowing course, the improvements to the Mighty River Domain, the new Finish Tower, new coaching boats and launches and much more.
"The event has been amazing. The feedback from the teams, the athletes, the spectators and the media has been overwhelmingly positive. So many have said this is the best World Championships they have ever attended.
"Our thanks and congratulations to all the teams for fantastic racing on the water. And, in particular, to Rowing NZ for a record medal haul at a World Championships.
"Finally, the Organising Committee would like to thank all our sponsors, our suppliers and contractors and our volunteers for making this event such a success.
"We have shown the world what New Zealand can do."
