With the relocation of the men's national team to Chula Vista, Calif., long-time national team coach Kris Korzeniowski will undertake a new role as director of coaching education, USRowing announced on Tuesday.
During his time as a national team coach, Korzeniowski was always involved in coaching education, and he has been instrumental in the development of coaching education in the United States and throughout the world.
Korzeniowski started USRowing's current coaching certification program, authored USRowing's Level I Coaching Manual and has published numerous articles on coaching. He also has produced several coaching videos including Sweep Technique: The Art of Moving a Boat, Sculling Fundamentals, How to Improve Rowing Technique and Rowing Technique with Kris Korzeniowski.
"This is a great opportunity to vault our educational programs to a new level," said USRowing Chief Executive Officer Glenn Merry. "Kris is the father of our current certification program. It is a natural fit for him to lead our charge into advanced levels, mentoring and sports science integration, creating a legacy under which future generations of coaches can learn and grow."
